Disc-Type ESP is currently the preferred choice in the sulphonation industry, with over 80% market share and SO₃/acid mist removal efficiency up to 99%.
Wire-Type ESP requires 6–8 suspension rods through the anode tube to the lower support frame, which do not contribute to demisting, causing 3–4% tail gas bypass and limiting acid mist removal to ≤97%.
Compared with wire-type, the disc-type cathode tubes offer much higher reliability, eliminating downtime caused by broken cathode wires and avoiding personnel entry for maintenance. With a service life over 20 years versus three years for wire-type, disc-type cathode tubes greatly reduce maintenance costs.
